AuditBoard Alternative for Saudi Internal Audit Teams

Choosing an AuditBoard alternative starts with a question about your own team: which audit work must the new system handle well, and what evidence will prove it?
A long feature list will not answer that question. Neither will a polished dashboard. For an internal audit team in Saudi Arabia, the useful comparison connects daily audit work with language, deployment, operating responsibilities and the cost of getting the system into use.
This guide explains how to evaluate Abilite alongside AuditBoard, now called Optro. It is written by Abilite, so it sets out our product scope and gives you questions to test with both vendors. It does not claim that one platform is right for every organization.
AuditBoard is now Optro
AuditBoard announced its rebrand to Optro on March 9, 2026. Its official explanation describes a platform spanning internal audit, enterprise risk management, information security and compliance. Existing buyers may still use the AuditBoard name when researching suppliers. See Optro’s explanation of the name change and its dated announcement.
If you are looking for an AuditBoard alternative, compare the current products and the scope in each proposal. An older review may describe a previous package, and a platform name does not tell you which modules a quoted subscription includes.
What should an AuditBoard alternative solve for your team?
Start with the problem that brought you to market. Perhaps working papers are scattered across folders. Perhaps an audit committee report takes several rounds of spreadsheet updates. Or management actions remain open because responsibility and evidence are difficult to trace.
Write three outcomes before booking demonstrations. For example:
- Planning. An approved audit plan leads to a scheduled engagement with clear ownership.
- Execution. Risks, controls, audit procedures, working papers and findings can be reviewed together.
- Follow-up. Each management action has an owner, a due date and a recorded review decision.
Then separate essential requirements from preferences. Arabic use, customer-hosted deployment or a specific data export may be essential. A particular chart style may be a preference. This distinction makes an AuditBoard alternative easier to assess against evidence instead of presentation quality.
Abilite and Optro at a practical level
The table below is a starting point for evaluation. Confirm current capabilities, package details and contractual commitments directly with each supplier. It does not rate functions that we have not independently tested.
| Decision area | Abilite | What to confirm with Optro |
|---|---|---|
| Product scope | Internal audit planning, engagements, risk-control matrices, findings, reporting and follow-up. | Which audit and wider GRC modules your proposed package includes. |
| Language | English and Arabic interfaces are available. | Which interfaces, reports, exports and support materials meet your language requirements. |
| Deployment | Cloud hosting on a server in Saudi Arabia or deployment on customer local servers is available. | Available hosting locations, deployment options and contractual data-handling commitments. |
| API and customization | API access and customization are available; the specific integration and scope need review. | Required connectors, API permissions, implementation work and related fees. |
| Commercial proposal | Discuss pricing with the Abilite team against your requirements. | Current quotation, module scope, user licensing and implementation terms. |
A team seeking an AuditBoard alternative for a focused internal audit requirement should test that workflow carefully. A team purchasing a wider enterprise GRC program should also assess the broader scope it needs. Do not assume that overlapping audit features make two proposals equivalent.

Ask both vendors to demonstrate the same engagement
Use a short, sanitized procurement scenario. Avoid uploading confidential company records during an initial demonstration. Describe a process in which purchase approvals must follow agreed authority levels, then ask the presenter to show the following steps.
1. Connect the objective, risk and control
Ask where the objective is recorded, how the risk is described and which control addresses it. Then inspect the audit procedure that will evaluate the control. A procedure should explain what the reviewer will test, rather than repeat the control description.
Our Abilite RCM Library guide explains the objective, risk, control and audit-program relationship. Use that relationship as an evaluation question for any AuditBoard alternative you shortlist.
2. Trace evidence into a finding
Ask the vendor to record a sample test result and show how the supporting information is reviewed. Where a control does not operate as expected, can the reviewer understand the link between the test, the finding and the proposed action? Check permissions and review responsibilities, not just whether a file can be attached.
3. Review action ownership and closure
Ask the presenter to assign a management action, set a due date and show how its status is reviewed. Then give them a harder case: the owner marks the work complete, but the evidence is insufficient. Where is that disagreement recorded, and who can approve closure?
Our guide to internal audit findings management provides further questions on ownership, remediation and review. These are useful tests of an AuditBoard alternative because they reflect work that continues after the report is issued.
Review Arabic use and Saudi deployment requirements
For Saudi teams, language should be part of the demonstration. Ask users to complete an actual task in the language they will use at work. Review text direction, data entry, status labels, reports and exports separately. An Arabic interface does not by itself confirm that every output meets your needs.
Abilite offers English and Arabic interfaces. Ask our team to demonstrate the specific screens and outputs your auditors, management and committee require. The Saudi internal audit software page explains the local product and deployment context.
Hosting deserves the same level of detail. For each AuditBoard alternative, ask where primary data, backups and support access are located. If you require deployment on your own servers, agree who operates the infrastructure and who handles updates, recovery, security administration and support.
Abilite is available on a cloud server in Saudi Arabia or on customer local servers. The technical scope and operating responsibilities need to be agreed during evaluation. A server location alone does not establish compliance with a regulation, and this guide is not a regulatory certification.
Compare the full implementation commitment
A subscription quote is only part of the decision. Ask for a written scope covering configuration, migration, training, integrations, support and the work your own team must perform. Record what is included, what is optional and what requires a separate estimate.
Before selecting an AuditBoard alternative, work through this checklist:
- Which users need access, and what will each role be allowed to do?
- Which historical records must move, and who will clean and validate them?
- What training is included for auditors, reviewers and action owners?
- Which reports must be ready before rollout?
- How will your team export its information if it changes suppliers later?
- Who signs off the pilot, and what evidence will support that decision?
A lower headline fee does not establish a lower total cost. Equally, a larger package is not automatically necessary for a smaller scope. Compare like-for-like proposals against your agreed requirements. We do not publish a speculative price comparison here.
Is Abilite the right AuditBoard alternative to shortlist?
Abilite is worth evaluating when your immediate requirement is a connected internal audit workflow and you want to discuss English and Arabic use, Saudi-hosted cloud or local-server deployment. Review the platform documentation before your demonstration and bring one real workflow for the team to discuss.
If your project includes a much wider enterprise risk, information-security and compliance program, document those needs explicitly. An AuditBoard alternative should be assessed against the full project scope, including functions outside the internal audit team. Do not infer those capabilities from a generic GRC label.

Frequently asked questions
Is AuditBoard now called Optro?
Yes. The company announced the Optro name on March 9, 2026. This guide uses AuditBoard because buyers may still search for that name. Check the current product scope directly with the vendor.
What should I check in an AuditBoard alternative?
Test your essential audit workflow, user roles, review process, language requirements, deployment, migration, reporting and exit arrangements. Ask shortlisted suppliers to demonstrate the same scenario and record what they actually show.
Does Abilite offer Arabic and on-premise deployment?
English and Arabic interfaces are available, along with cloud hosting on a server in Saudi Arabia or deployment on customer local servers. Confirm the required outputs, infrastructure and operating responsibilities with the Abilite team.
Is Abilite cheaper than Optro?
This guide does not make that claim. Obtain current written quotations for the same users, scope, implementation, hosting and support requirements. Abilite pricing is discussed with the team during evaluation.
Can I use a checklist during the demonstration?
Yes. Our English and Arabic audit software demo checklist helps you record evidence and questions. Use it with each supplier so your comparison is based on a consistent set of requirements.
